Nirmal Award -2008
Vazhayur Grama Panchayat is a village panchayat that achieved remarkable recognition by winning the prestigious Nirmal Puraskar award presented by the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, in 2008. The award was granted in recognition of the Panchayat’s outstanding achievements in sanitation management, comprehensive waste disposal, public health protection, and the expansion of toilet facilities.
Through people’s participation and a sustainable development vision, the sanitation initiatives implemented by the Panchayat brought significant improvements to the village’s social progress and quality of life. By receiving the Nirmal Puraskar, Vazhayur Grama Panchayat emerged as one of the model panchayats in Kerala.
