P.K. Unniperavan was born on March 4, 1959, at Kallipurath House, Ponnempadam, in Vazhayur, as the son of Punnath Moothedath Raman and Chirutha of Kunnathukulath, Cherukavu Panchayat.

Education

• Classes 1 to 4 – Padma L.P. School, Ponnempadam

Career

• During 1977–78, worked as a canteen worker at New India Fisheries Limited.
• From 1979 to 1982, worked as a clay-loading laborer for a tile company.
• From 1983 to 1989, worked as a laborer at Hindustan Tile Company, Farook.
• From 1990 to 1991, worked as a partner in Wayanad Tiles, a partnership firm in Wayanad.
• In 1991, started a company named Malanad Tiles & Clay Products Private Limited in Wayanad and served as its Managing Director from 1991 to 2008.
• From 2008 to 2015, served as Managing Partner of Ramans Clay Products, Panamaram, Wayanad.
• Since 2013, has been a partner in Ponvayal Tiles, Panamaram, Wayanad.
• Since 2023, has been running Vayalnad Homestay at Panamaram.

Public Activities

• Became a member of Balasangham in 1969 and joined KSYF in 1978.
• In 1980, became a member of the CPM Ponnempadam Branch Committee and later served as Branch Secretary.
• Became a member of TTA Kala Samithi in 1975.
• In 1984, became a founding member and later Secretary of Ponnempadam Kala Samithi.
• Joined CPI in 1989 and became a member of the CPI Kondotty Mandalam Committee in 1995. Left CPI membership in 2001.
• In 2021, became a member of the CPM Ponnempadam Branch Committee. Currently serves as a member of the CPM Virippadam Branch Committee.

Electoral and Political Career

• Contested independently from Ponnempadam in the Panchayat election of 1988 but was unsuccessful.
• In 1995, was elected to Vazhayur Grama Panchayat from Ponnempadam as a CPI representative.
• In 2005, was elected from Karad to Vazhayur Grama Panchayat as a CPI-supported independent candidate.
• In 2015, again contested independently from Ponnempadam and was elected to Vazhayur Grama Panchayat.
• In 2025, contested from Virippadam Ward as a CPM (LDF)-supported independent candidate and was elected to Vazhayur Grama Panchayat. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Welfare Standing Committee of Vazhayur Grama Panchayat.

• Married in 2001.
• Wife: Shanthakumari T. (Retired Pre-Matric Hostel Warden).

• Arjun P.K. (born in 2002) – currently an MCA student at Vadakara Engineering College.
